Retail Stores across US Pulling Blue Bell Ice Cream Cartons
Last month, Blue Bell recalled its ice cream cups made at a production plant in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma owing to concern over listeria contamination. As the listeria scare continues, retail grocery stores across America are pulling Blue Bell products from their shelves.
Latest one to pull the products of Blue Bell is Walmart. Though there is not sufficient evidence that all cartons of ice cream have been contaminated, there is a potential threat which is enough to issue the precautionary recall.
In fact, the company also closed its Oklahoma production plant temporarily in order to know every detail of the matter and plans to conduct a detailed investigation. The listeria concern started just after Halloween. The issue started with tainted caramel apples that were manufactured and packaged and delivered to stores across the nation.
The company announced to pull the ice cream products after three Kansas deaths took place associated with listeria-contaminations present in the ice-cream. These people died after having milk shakes made with Oklahoma Blue Bell ice cream. As mentioned above, not all products are bad.
But it shall be noted that this type of contamination can go undetected. It is said that the Blue Bell Ice Cream will be hit hard and is now hard to say that if the popular ice cream will be able to recover.
Store managers and customers should look for the number and letter code on the bottom of the carton. If the letter ends at S, P, O, Q, R or T then it means that it was made at the Oklahoma plan. Blue Bell is recalling seven other products as well made at the plant.
The recalled products include Sour Pop Green Apple Bars, Cotton Candy Bars, Almond Bars, Vanilla Stick Slices, and No Sugar Added Mooo Bars.
