Relationship Can Be Improved By Warm Gestures
Attraction towards the opposite sex is a very complex phenomenon. However, a new research has suggested that expressing your feelings to the one whom you like can actually boost up your relationship. Just a simple phrase “I like you” can actually make your partner feel more attracted towards you and it can be further enhanced with eye contact and smile. The findings had been proposed by Dr Ben Jones, psychologist at Aberdeen University.
The psychologist for his study took 230 men and women, and found pout that social cues play a very vital role in attraction. Theses social cues indicate you as to how much others fascinate about you.
These findings which will be published in Psychological Science will also be showcased at the BA Festival of science and Liverpool.
Dr Jones advices all the singles that his findings could be used by them and in fact help to save their time on being wasted on those who are simply not interested. He reported, “Combining information about others' physical beauty with information about how attracted they appear to be to you allows you to allocate your social effort efficiently.”
During the process of study, 230 men and women were shown a collection of flash cards which had a face with different expressions, like of smiling or of not smiling, and of looking at them or of not looking at them.
After this, the volunteers were asked as to how attractive the faces were. It however, was not a surprise for Jones, when he found that volunteers found those faces more attractive, which were smiling and looking at them.
“We like it when attractive people seem to be behaving positively towards us. And we seem to end up with people who are on our level in terms of attractiveness. Maybe one of the ways you learn your level of attractiveness is through how other people behave towards you,” reported Dr Lynda Boothroyd, a psychologist at the University of Durham.
