Washington, Sept 30 : Elisabeth Hasselbeck is reportedly very upset with her co-hosts on the talk show ‘The View’, Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar, over the US presidential election.
A long-time staff member of the show is said to have revealed that The View creator Barbara Walters has called a “cooling off” meeting between the conservative Hasselbeck and the more liberal Goldberg and Behar.
This is not the first time that Hasselbeck has faced a political showdown with her co-host, but according to insiders, it was not as bad as the disagreement that had taken place with Rosie O''Donnell.
New York, September 30 : Former U. S. President Bill Clinton is totally gaga about helping people out these days, though he still never misses giving his views when it come to sex.
He thinks that one starts understanding the joys of philanthropy with the advancement of age.
"Neuroscientists have monitored the part of the brain where you get the reward for giving, and it''s the same place for sex," the New York Daily News quoted Matthew Bishop of The Economist as telling him during a recent interview.
Clinton quipped: "The older you get, the more the giving scale goes up."
Washington, September 30 : Remains of rotten fish entrails have helped establish the precise dating of Pompeii’s destruction, as 79 A. D., according to the analysis of the town’s last batch of garum, a pungent, fish-based sauce.
According to a report in Discovery News, frozen in time by the catastrophic eruption that covered Pompeii and nearby towns nearly 2,000 years ago with nine to 20 feet of hot ash and pumice, the desiccated remains were found at the bottom of seven jars.
The find revealed that the last Pompeian garum was made entirely with bogues (known as boops boops), a Mediterranean fish species that abounded in the area in the summer months of July and early August.
Washington, Sept 30 : The US presidential debate on foreign policy issues last Friday eliminated Republican nominee John McCain’s best chance of delivering a knockout punch to his rival Barack Obama, whose most important asset may be his capacity for self-correction.
McCain is supposed to have a command on foreign policy issues and he should have owned Friday’s debate. During their respective primary battles, McCain was a better debater than Obama, who could be hesitant, wordy and thrown off his stride, the Washington Post reports.
Colombia, Sept 30 : The first presidential debate of 2008, between John McCain and Barack Obama, reveals that most of the statements were positive.
A content analysis by a University of Missouri expert, reveals that 53 per cent of the statements in the September 26 debate were positive, followed by attacks (39 per cent) and defenses (9 percent).
The first debate of 2008 was a bit more negative than past elections’ debates, but not vastly more negative, according to Bill Benoit, MU Professor of Communication. Benoit also opined that the 1960 and 1976 and 2004 presidential debates were similar in tone: 57 per cent positive statements, 35 per cent attacks and 9 per cent defenses
(refutations of attacks).
NewYork, Sept. 30 : Sarah Palin has decided to play the old versus young card against Democrat vice-presidential rival Joe Biden, ahead of their first and only debate on Thursday.
"It''s my turn now. I''m looking forward to Thursday night''s debate. I''ve never met Joe Biden. But I''ve been hearing about his Senate speeches since I was in, like, second grade," Palin quipped to thunderous applause at an event in Columbus, Ohio.
