David BeckhamLondon, Mar 22 : The decision by David Beckham to stay at AC Milan may have cost him a cool two million pounds, but has saved his World Cup dream.

England boss Fabio Capello has confirmed Beckham would have been axed from his squad if he had returned to LA Galaxy this month.

Instead, Beckham sacrificed two million pounds of his personal fortune to help broker an extended loan spell with Milan and so is in line to pick up his 109th and 110th caps for his country in the clashes with Slovakia and Ukraine at Wembley, The Sun reports.

Rare Jimi Hendrix’s tape could fetch £100k at auction

London, Mar 22 : A long-forgotten tape of Jimi Hendrix showing his “gentler side” is expected to fetch 100,000 pounds at an auction next month.

The recordings capture Hendrix at his most reflective. The songs, 14 in total, date back to 1968 as Hendrix worked on his third album, Electric Ladyland.

Instead of his trademark distorted guitar and a full backing band, most of the tracks feature Hendrix singing and playing guitar quietly by himself in an apartment.

Several tracks include a second musician playing harmonica.

UK to unveil most comprehensive anti-terror strategy in world

London, Mar. 22 : United Kingdom’s new anti-terror strategy, which will be unveiled by Home Secretary Jacqui Smith next week, is claimed to be the most comprehensive counter-terrorism approach issued by any government in the world.

According to a Home Office spokesman, Smith wants the paper to go into more detail than ever before about how the authorities are seeking to prevent atrocities from happening and respond to attacks which take place.

The strategy will reflect security services'' judgment that the most serious terror threat to the UK continues to come from Osama bin Laden''s al Qaida network, the Daily Star reports.

The idea was scrapped because officials did not want people to believe they were taking the idea of visitors from outer space seriously.

Instead, the MoD continued to keep only paper records of almost 1,200 sightings reported between 1987 and 1993, The Independent reports.
