Tel Aviv - Israeli soldiers shot dead a Palestinian gunman Friday as they were chasing after a militant squad that had ambushed and injured an Israeli motorist, a military spokesman said.

The militants opened fire at the Israeli motorist, lightly injuring him, as he was driving near the Jewish settlement of Alfei Menashe.
