Pak Senate Sports Committee moves privilege motion against PCB chairmanKarachi, Feb. 13: Retaliating against Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Ijaz Butt's criticism of the Senate Standing Committee on Sports, the body has now filed a privilege motion against him.

Committee members charged Butt with violating the privilege of the Senate.

"The PCB chairman has passed negative remarks against the sports committee that is tantamount to the breach of privilege of the Senate," The News quoted a member of the committee, Haroon Khan, as saying.

Rebel ICL players may get PCB nod for international gamesKarachi, Feb. 11 : The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) may allow players, who sided with the rebel Indian Cricket League (ICL), to play in international games.

PCB chairman Ijaz Butt is expected to make an official statement regarding the fate of the 21 cricketers after a hearing in the Sindh High Court where the Board will place its stand on the banned players, The News reports.

Pak ICL players allowed to play in domestic cricket

Indian Cricket League (ICL) LogoKarachi, Feb. 10, : The Pakistani players, who were contracted with the rebel Indian Cricket League (ICL), have been formally allowed by the PCB to play in the domestic cricket.

PCB lawyer Shan Gul said the board had banned all ICL-contracted players from playing domestic or international cricket in Pakistan, because the rebel league is not a legal tournament in its home base.

Gul is hoping to see the banned players in cricketing action soon and said, "Chairman board Ijaz Butt is also not in favour of ban on the players featured in the Indian Cricket League."

PCB team to visit India on February 19 to discuss World Cup preparations

2011 World Cup Central Organising Committee to be held on February 19, The News reports.

Butt will be accompanied by PCB's Chief Operating Officer (COO) Saleem Altaf and new Managing Director Salman Butt.

Top officials of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) and Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) will also be attending the meeting.

Miandad’s ‘exorbitant’ Rs 1.6 million salary demand behind sacking, claims ButtKarachi, Feb. 10 : The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has revealed that Javed Miandad demanded an exorbitant salary package which forced the Board to sack him from the post of Director-General.

PCB chief Ijaz Butt said Miandad turned down the offer of Rs 500,000 and demanded Rs 1.6 million as salary.

"Miandad asked for a salary which we could not give to him. I regard him highly as a great cricketer but we can''t pay him more than what we had offered him," the News quoted Butt, as saying.
