Five killed in suicide attack in eastern Afghanistan

Kabul - A suicide bomber detonated his explosive-packed vest in a market in eastern Afghanistan on Friday morning, killing five men and wounding seven others, a provincial governor said.

The attack took place in the main market in Zazi Maidan district of south-eastern province of Khost when a bomber detonated his explosive among the people, Arsala Jamal, provincial governor told Deutsche Presse-Agentur dpa.

"All five dead men were civilians. They were local shopkeepers," Jamal said, adding the site of the attack was close to the main police headquarters in the district and an intelligence office.

Nearly 250 Nepalis stranded in Kabul

KabulKathmandu, Sept 26: At least 250 Nepali youths have been left stranded in Kabul after their employment agent allegedly fled without providing them the promised employment.

The victims informed their relatives in Nepal about their agony just few weeks after reaching the Afghan capital.

Bishnu Prasad, one of the victims, told his elder brother Indra Prasain of Satashidham of Jhapa district, that he and many other Nepali youths have been left stranded and finding it difficult to earn a living and often hide themselves to avoid arrest.

Two police officers were killed Wednesday night when their vehicle was struck by a roadside bomb in the Spin Boldak district, said Matiullah Khan Qateh, provincial police chief.

The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack in a statement posted at its website but said four border police forces were killed.
