Report: Indonesian ID card found on body of East Timor rebel leader

Dili - Slain East Timor rebel leader Alfredo Reinado had an Indonesian
citizenship card in his pocket when he was shot on February 11 during
an attack on the president, media reports said Wednesday.

Reinado, a former commander of the military police in Dili until he
left his post and took up arms against the state in 2006, led a handful
of rebels to the president's home in Dili, where he was shot dead by
presidential guards.

However, his men continued the shootout and 30 minutes later President
Jose Ramos-Horta was shot twice as he walked toward his home.

According to the autopsy report, the card was found during the autopsy the afternoon of February 11, reported The Timor Post.

The quake struck at 6:15 pm Jakarta time (1115 GMT), about 163 kilometres south-east of Dili, the capital of East Timor, according to Indonesia's National Meteorology and Geophysics Agency.

The event was centred about 30 kilometres beneath the seabed but did not trigger a tsunami, the agency said.

The quake struck at 7:04 am Jakarta time (0004 GMT) at a depth of 72 kilometres, about 97 kilometres north-east of Ambon, capital of Maluku province, Indonesia's National Meteorological and Geophysics Agency (BMG) said.

An official at BMG office in Ambon, who identified himself only as Amien, said there were no immediate reports of injury and damage from the quake, which struck in the sea off the Seram Island of southern Maluku.

Indonesian police investigate blasts near US-run gold mine

Jakarta - Indonesian police said Friday they were investigating two suspected bomb blasts near a mine operated by US mining giant Freeport-McMoRan Copper and Gold Inc in the country's easternmost province Papua.

Company spokesman Mindo Pangaribuan said no one was injured in the blasts, took place early riday and that operations were not affected.

"Investigation is still underway," Papua police chief Bagus Eko Danto, was quoted as saying by the state-run Antara news agency, adding that a team of investigators, including members of the country's elite anti-terror unit were rushed to the scene.
