Nokia Joins Hand With WWF India To Save Tigers

Finnish-based mobile telephone giant Nokia has joined hands with the Nokia Joins Hand With WWF India To Save Tigerswildlife conservation organization, World Wide Fund for Nature, (WWF) to help conserve tigers in India.

Under this initiative, Nokia and WWF-India, will work jointly towards providing education for sustainable growth, increasing knowledge on tiger conservation in the villages surrounding tiger reserves.

Traditional Chinese fishing nets on the verge of disappearance

Kochi, July 29: 'Chinese Fishing Nets', a centuries old unique fishing technique, introduced by Chinese traders in the 14th Century, finds it hard to survive in the coastal town of Kochi.

The huge wooden cantilever nets which look like spiders on the shores catching fish in backwaters of Fort Kochi, attracts thousands of tourists both domestic and international.

The Chinese fishing nets in Kerala, it id believed, were introduced by traders from the court of Chinese ruler Kublai Khan in Cochin during the 14th century.

But this heritage of more than 500 years old trade relations between India and China is on the verge of extinction and soon would be history.

Pakistan funded Mujahideen in Kashmir says Obama

He said this in an interview to the Wall Street Journal published in New York on Monday.

Obama said that such efforts are counterproductive for Islamabad.

He further added that Pakistan''s help to Mujahideen continues to be a constant instigator of tension between Islamabad and New Delhi.

PM, Sonia visit bomb blast sites, survivors in Ahmedabad (Update)

Manmohan SinghAhmedabad, July 28: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Monday commended the people of Gujarat for the resilience shown by them in the wake of terror attacks on Saturday’s serial bomb blast.

The Prime Minister said this during his day-long visit to Ahmedabad.

"I commend the people of Gujarat for the resilience they have shown. These terrorist acts are aimed at destroying our social fabric, undermining communal harmony and demoralising our people," he said.

Singh also announced enhancement of ex-gratia payment from Rs one lakh to Rs 3.5 lakh each to next of kin of those killed in the terror attacks.

Wrong Injection Takes Two Lives In Kolkata

It was sheer negligence of a nurse and a doctor in a nursing home in Hooghly that took lives of two women. These women died after a wrong injection given by nurse on the prescription of the doctor. Police has arrested the doctor and the nurse.
