Amar Singh to act in a Bollywood filmNew Delhi, Mar 24 : Samajwadi Party (SP) General Secretary Amar Singh will get a chance to act as the Home Minister in the forthcoming Bollywood film ''Charge Sheet'', which is to be directed by Dev Anand.

"It''s my privilege that Dev Saab asked me for this favour and I simply agreed to it. Till date, I haven''t become any Minister and I never wanted to become one. In fact, I never thought of becoming the Home Minister. So no matter whether it''s just in the film, " said Amar Singh.

Sangma withdrew his proposed hunger strike, which he wanted to undertake from Tuesday.

The East Khasi Hills District Administration had imposed Section 144 in the district in view of a protest march proposed by some political party and Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) to protest against the President's rule in state.

No plans to enter politics: Priyanka GandhiAmethi, Mar 24 : Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, the daughter of Congress President Sonia Gandhi, on Tuesday said she had no plans to contest elections or enter politics but would continue campaigning for the Congress.

Talking to the reporters here, Priyanka said, "Like previous years, I will oversee campaigning in Amethi and Rae Bareli. I have no intentions to enter politics or to contest elections."

Priyanka is on a two-day tour of Amethi and Rae Bareli-constituencies represented by brother Rahul Gandhi and mother Sonia Gandhi respectively.

BJP finalises names of 29 nominees for elections in Uttar PradeshNew Delhi, Mar 24 : The Bharatiya Janata Party has finalised the names of 29 Lok Sabha nominees for Uttar Pradesh, including R. V. Singh and Pradeep Singh.

R. V. Singh will contest from the Amethi constituency against Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi, while Pradeep Singh will contest against Congress president Sonia Gandhi for the Rae Bareli seat.

Party president Rajnath Singh, also cleared the names of candidates for State Assembly seats in Andhra Pradesh and Orissa.
