High caffeine consumption linked to hallucinationsDurham, England - A study conducted on 200 university students has linked high caffeine consumption to a higher tendency to hallucinate.

The study, carried out at Durham University in England and reported in a German magazine for physicians, asked students to outline the amount of coffee, tea, caffeine tablets and energy drinks consumed. Their stress levels and tendency to hallucinate were then recorded.

Police seek bank manager's abductors

DURHAM, N. C., Dec. 4 - Police in Durham, N. C., were searching for three people who kidnapped a Bank of America branch manager and his 13-year-old daughter Thursday, officials said.

WRAL-TV reported that the branch manager's Mercedes was bumped from behind when he was taking his daughter to school at around 7:30 a. m., police said. When he got out of his car, three people confronted him at gunpoint, hit him on the head and forced him back into his car, the Raleigh, N. C., station reported.

Police said the gunmen put the man's daughter in the trunk of their car. The teen reportedly pulled the trunk release lever, escaped and flagged down a Durham County sheriff's deputy.

Nifong's bankruptcy request denied

DURHAM, N. C., Dec. 4  -- Former Durham County District Attorney Mike Nifong lost his bid Thursday to keep his case in U. S. bankruptcy court.

The Raleigh (N. C.) News & Observer reported that the federal judge's ruling opens the door for three exonerated Duke University lacrosse players to renew their pursuit of malicious prosecution allegations against the former prosecutor.

Former players Dave Evans, Collin Finnerty and Reade Seligmann in October 2007 sued Nifong, the city of Durham and its police department, claiming they suffered personal injury and emotional distress while a flawed rape case was brought against them. The accusation was leveled by an exotic dancer hired to perform at a party attended by members of the Duke lacrosse team.

Duke breezes past Duquesne

DURHAM, N. C., Nov. 28  -- Reserve Lance Thomas scored 21 points with six rebounds, Friday fueling fifth-ranked Duke's 95-72 rout over Duquesne.

Duke settled things quickly by taking a 52-32 lead into halftime, and started the second half with a 16-6 run.

Thomas made all eight of his field goal attempts.

Kyle Singler compiled 17 points, seven rebounds, four assists and three steals for Duke. Nolan Smith scored 11 with three assists, while 11 of 12 players scored for the Blue Devils (7-0), who won their 64th straight home game against a non-ACC opponent.

Damian Saunders' 22 points, 10 rebounds and three assists paced outmanned Duquesne.
