Three children killed, 14 injured in al-Qaeda raid in Iraq

Baghdad - Three children were killed on Wednesday and 14 people were injured when al-Qaeda militants attacked a home in Iraq's restive city of Baquba, reported the Voices of Iraq VOI news agency.

The deceased were all the children of Abdel Karim, a leader of the Awakening Council movement, which is a collection of Sunni units that collaborate with US forces in fighting militants from the al-Qaeda terrorist network in Iraq.

Seven women were among those injured in the attack, which occurred in the city's Baladruz district. Baquba, the capital of the Diyala province, is about 60 kilometres north of Baghdad.

Also in Diyala, another Awakening Council member died of wounds caused by an explosion in the Abu Sida district, the report said.

Baghdad - The United States will be asked to consider a series of amendments to an agreement on the status of its forces in Iraq, Iraqi officials announced Tuesday.

Four killed, four wounded in attack in Mosul

Baghdad  - Four people were killed on Tuesday and another four were wounded in an armed attack on eight policemen in the northern city of Mosul, the Voices of Iraq (VOI) reported.

Unknown gunmen attacked eight new volunteer members on their way to work in the al-Amel district of Mosul. The gunmen fled to an unknown destination, police told VOI.

In Baghdad, meanwhile, seven people were injured in two separate blasts.

In the first blast in the al-Nahda district of central Baghdad, four people were wounded, police told VOI.

The second blast hit al-Nidal street in central Baghdad, wounding three people, police added.

Baghdad: US raid targeted hotbed of militants on Syrian border

Iraqi government spokesman Ali al-Dabbagh at the same time reiterated an unsourced US statement that the raid targeted a haven for a militant group which used to carry out execute deadly attacks inside Iraq.
