It was recently revealed by RBI Governor D Subbarao that he stands in support of the proposal of splitting of the posts of MD and Chairman in banks of the private sector. He further added that the results of such a bifurcation were believed to be satisfactory and this is why they can continue to do so in the future as well.

He said that there are discussions being held between the government and the state banks about the split and how it is going o affect the functioning of the entire system.

The governor was of the view that due to the positive responses given by the past experiences as well as the profits incurred in the global endorsements, the issue is now going to b taken to the government so that a proper plan of action can be made in this regard.

"This experience proves to be positive in the private sector banks (in our country), which has also been proved to be value-adding in international banks. Not giving too much power to one person is good”, he told reporters. It’s merely a matter of time before the results for this trial are out.
