Process of Air India’s integration into Star Alliance is on track
The process of Air India's integration into global airlines group Star Alliance is going on smoothly, Star Alliance (corporate) Vice President Christian Klick said.
Star Alliance is the international group of full-service carriers that counts members like Lufthansa, Turkish Airlines and Singapore Airlines.
Talking to reporters in Mumbai on Thursday, Klick said that India was one of the world's most significant aviation markets that Star Alliance wanted to cover. He added that the process of Air India integration into the global alliance was on track.
Speaking on the topic, he said, "India is one of the most important aviation markets in the world … I can say with full confidence that the integration process into Star Alliance is on track."
He added that he would not rule out at this point of time that Star Alliance have further partners in future. However, he declared that the global group was not in discussions with IndiGo for a possible induction.
In December 2007, Star Alliance had announced Air India as its future member. But it halted the talks in July 2011, citing the Indian airline's incapability to meet some essential parameters of the alliance.
Induction into the alliance will enhance Air India's brand value and provide more connectivity to its passengers around the globe.
