President Patil arrives in Mexico on a three-day visit
Mexico City (Mexico) April 16, : After completing a three-day visit to Brazil, President Pratibha DeviSingh Patil reached Mexico City late on Wednesday. Her special aircraft landed at the Benito Juarez International Airport late at night.
Patil was given a warm reception by Mrs. Lourdes Aranda, Mexico's Vice Foreign Minister, Rogelio Granguillome, Mexico's Ambassador in India , Commander of the Air Force Base, Armando Alvarez Reuna, the Director General of Foreign Affairs and Indian Embassy officials.
During the visit, India and Mexico are to sign two bilateral agreements -- one on cooperation in the aviation sector, and the second on enhancing cooperation and improvement in photo-sanitary standards.
External Affairs Ministry sources revealed that while Indo-Mexico ties were of long-standing, both countries needed to sign more agreements to open up new channels of cooperation and economic development.
During her three-day stay, Patil will hold talks with her Mexican counterpart Felipe De Jesus Calderon Hinojosa, and would also address the Mexican Parliament. She will also visit the Supreme Court of Mexico and meet the President of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation, Guillermo Iberio Ortiz Mayagoitia . She will also pay homage at the National Heroes Memorial and would visit Teotihuacan to see the pyramids and the Guadeloupe Church.
During her stay, Patil would offer floral tribute at the Statue of Mahatma Gandhi. She will leave Mexico on April 20 for Chile. (ANI)
