VHP-BJP protest affects road, railway traffic across IndiaNew Delhi, Aug 21 : Vishwa Hindu Parishad leader Pravin Togadia and some Delhi BJP lawmakers were among hundreds of activists, arrested temporarily today for demanding the transfer of land to the Amarnath shrine.

Togadia led over 1,000 activists in a protest march at Rajouri Garden in West Delhi today, a senior police official said.

About 7,000 activists reportedly took part in the ''Jail Bharao'' agitation, claimed VHP leader, Vinod Bansal.

BJP blames Congress policies for present crisis in J-KNew Delhi, Aug 19 : The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday blamed the "partisan" and "short sighted" policies of the Congress for the present crisis in Jammu and Kashmir.

The BJP spokesperson, Ravi Shankar Prasad, told a news conference here, "The politics and policies of the Congress in Jammu and Kashmir have been partisan and lacking in foresight.”

“The Congress'' policies have weakened nationalist forces and boosted the morale of the separatist forces," Prasad added.

Rajnath Singh arrested on his way to Greater Noida

Uttar Pradesh BJP president Rajnath SinghGreater Noida (Uttar Pradesh), Aug 14: Uttar Pradesh BJP president Rajnath Singh was arrested on Thursday by the UP Police, while he tried to enter Greater Noida, where four persons were killed when police opened fire on farmers demanding enhanced compensation for their acquired land.

The administration did not allow the BJP chief as it feared that his visit could create trouble said the District Magistrate of Gautam Budh Nagar.

VHP-BJP protest affects road, railway traffic across IndiaNew Delhi, Aug 13 : Road and railway traffic in several parts of the country was affected on Wednesday after Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) and Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) activists blocked them as part of their protest against the Amarnath land row.

The protest that lasted for two hours from 9:00 a. m. to 11:00 a. m., left many office goers stranded and also affected vehicular movement across the country.

Protests over land transfer row spreadsChandigarh/Lucknow, August 12 : The protests over the Amarnath shrine land transfer row have spilled over to other parts of the country, after having paralyzed life in Jammu and Kashmir where they originated.

Thousands of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) activists took to the streets in Lucknow today shouting slogans against the land transfer revocation order.

The situation turned violent as the protesters clashed with the police, which resorted to baton charge to disperse the mob.

The all party delegation which visited Jammu and Srinagar on August 9-10 had two rounds of discussions here on Monday and Tuesday and asked the the people of J-K to desist from adopting the path of agitation.
