Dortmund, Germany - There was no third party involved in the death of a 21-year-old football fan who fell to his death at a German Cup game, German police said Thursday.

Eyewitnesses told police that they saw the drunken fan stumble as he tried to climb over a railing above an exit at Borussia Dortmund's Westfalen stadium Wednesday shortly before Dortmund's match with Werder Bremen.

The fan fell seven metres and suffered serious head injuries. He died later in hospital. (dpa)
