Polanski is not being persecuted, says top LA prosecutor
London, Oct 2 : A Los Angeles County district attorney has said that Roman Polanski is not being ‘persecuted’ but the case has to be wrapped up legally.
The L A County district attorney Steve Cooley was quoted by the Daily Express as saying: "I don''t persecute anybody and it''s a matter of court processes being concluded…. There''s a Superior Court bench warrant outstanding, it''s been executed and there will be further court proceedings."
Polanski, who fled the US in 1978, to avoid imprisonment on charges of having unlawful sex with a 13-year-old girl, is currently under arrest in Zurich and has challenged extradition to the US.
