Plastic, wood and slated prints to become trendy in 2009

Cologne, Germany - Unusual material combinations are coming into style in furniture, according to a trend outlook report published for a furniture trade show in Cologne.

A chair made of wood and artificial material and seemingly strange motifs on sofas is just one example, the publication said. Another typical trend is furniture that can be disassembled and reassembled in peculiar ways.

These developments have been set in motion largely by the world of art. In music and in film disparate things have long been mixed.

The trends in furniture report is compiled every year on behalf of the Cologne furniture trade show by a jury composed of designers, architects, material specialists and journalists. (dpa)
