Pinterest celebrates its Fifth Birthday

Pinterest is a web and mobile application company, which operates an eponymous photo sharing website. Here, users can share photos with other users. It was launched in March 2010, which means it has turned to Five now. In its five years of life, Pinterest has become a favorite spot for people where users can upload, save, sort, and manage images, known as pins.

It has become a place where people like to share ideas and creativity. Pinterest has fueled a new method to look for items. The new method has been stealing traffic from Internet companies like Google. Currently, the company has more than 300 employees. According to a recent statement of the company, the company is valued at about $11 billion.

According to Pinterest, while its core audience has always been women, its popularity is also growing faster than ever among men. According to Internet research firm comScore, more than 79 million unique visitors used Pinterest in February, which was up about 47% from last year. The company's vast majority was women, while men visitors have been growing at a much faster speed, as per the company.

Enid Hwang, community manager at Pinterest who is also the fourth employee the company hired, did not disclose what percentage of website users are men. She said that male users of the website in the United States have doubled in the last year. According to her, there is a belief that Pinterest is more for women than men, but it's not true.

She further said, "At its most fundamental, we believe that Pinterest is a tool for unlocking people's creativity". There are social networks like Facebook, Twitter and Instagram that allow users to share photos, but still Pinterest stands apart from them. According to Hwang, it is more intimate and personal than other social networks.
