Pharmacy Education Should Be Constantly Updated To Meet Tomorrow’s Challenges, Says Patil
President Pratibha Devisingh Patil stated that pharmacy education in India should be continuously revised and adjusted to meet up tomorrow's challenges.
While lecturing at the National Seminar on Recent Trends in Pharmacy Education and Practice in national capital, Patil stressed that there is a requirement to create awareness about the role of druggists in the health care delivery.
"For this educators will need to develop an environment to create well rounded pharmacists who are knowledgeable and aligned with the health care needs of people," she added.
Speaking on the occasion, Health and Family Affairs Minister, Ghulam Nabi Azad stated that Indian pharmaceutical segment has seen a phenomenal expansion in the recent years and is viewed worldwide as the source of good quality, low cost generic drugs.
Mr. Azad said that pharmacists cannot only act as dispensers of superior and low-priced drugs but also serve as regulators to oppose the threat of spurious drugs in India.
He urged the pharmacists to join the groups working in the rustic regions.
He also declared that the Health Ministry will reward Rs 12 crore to the contractor who fabricates the recently announced six All India Institutes of Medical Sciences in the country before the announced deadline. (With Inputs from Agencies)
