President Pratibha Patil wished speedy recovery to Veteran Bollywood superstar Dilip Prez Wishes Speedy Recovery To Dilip Kumar Kumar, who has been admitted in the ICU of Indraprasth Apollo Hospital late Thursday night after his situation turned serious due to urinary tract infection. 

The group of doctors attended him reported that his condition is now stable, and soon he would be shifted out of ICU. 

The President also sent a flower bouquet through her assistant to Dilip Kumar, and later talked to Kumar at hospital and wished him speedy recovery.
 

DRDO''s Selvamurthy conferred with lifetime achievement award

New Delhi, Sept. 25 : Dr W Selvamurthy, a senior official of the , DRDO, has been conferred with “WCCPGC-2008 Lifetime Achievement Award” in recognition of his outstanding contribution in the field of Preventive Cardiology in the World.

President Pratibha Devisingh Patil conferred the award on him at the Rashtrapati Bhawan on September 22, 2008.

Earlier, delivering the key note address to the “World Congress on Clinical, Preventive and Geriatric Cardiology-2008” that was inaugurated by former President A P J Abdul Kalam, at the Om Shanti Retreat in Gurgaon, Dr Selvamurthy spoke on the prevention and risk reduction in cardiovascular diseases.

No place for terrorism and sectarian hatred in society: President Pratibha Patil

President Pratibha PatilLucknow, Sept 23: Urging the youth of the nation to come forward to fight terrorism, President Pratibha Patil on Tuesday said terrorism and sectarian hatred have no place in the society as it is against development.

President Patil received the D. Lit (Honoris Causa) conferred by Lucknow University at a special convocation in Lucknow.

"Terrorism and communal hatred are enemies of development, stability and a peaceful society," she said in her convocation address.

The 90-minute event will see the President being honoured with honorary D. Litt degree. She will also felicitate 28 toppers in undergraduate with gold medals.

Patil will be the third President to visit Lucknow University after V V Giri and Giani Zail Singh. President Shankar Dayal Sharma was also an alumnus of the university.

Addressing a conference of state governors in New Delhi, Patil said the federal and regional governments would have to deal firmly with those who "followed the path and culture of guns."

President Pratibha PatilNew Delhi, Sept 16: President Pratibha Patil on Tuesday said that an institutional mechanism is needed to seamlessly share intelligence on real-time basis to foil the attempts of terrorists and naxalites.

After inaugurating a two-day conference of Governors here, the President said: "The big challenge facing us is the battle against terrorism, Left wing extremism and insurgency. Outfits with varying goals have been waging a long and ensuring warfare against the State with some forming a mutually supportive grid in this proxy warfare."
