Human rights advocate and community activist Martin Luther Kind III visited the headquarters of the Missionaries of the Charity on Thursday and prayed at the tomb of Mother Teresa.
"I am blessed that to get this opportunity to visit the place from where Mother Teresa carried out her service to humanity. World needs peace and humanity as Mother Teresa and Mahatma Gandhi provided," Luther said.
Chennai, Feb 25 : Martin Luther King III, presently in India to commemorate his father Martin Luther King''s visit to the country has termed his India tour as most inspirational.
He said this during his meeting with Tamil Nadu Governor Surjit Singh Barnala here today.
"To get an opportunity to meet and interact with children of many communities has been a rewarding experience," he said.
Martin Luther King III, the son of the civil rights leader, Martin Luther King, Jr, was in Ahmedabad on Friday to retrace his father's visit here five decades back. King, along with his wife, Arndrea Waters King, have visited Delhi and Mumbai, and were in the city on the last leg of their tour. Mumbai, Feb 18 : US civil rights leader Martin Luther King III today pays homage to the victims of Mumbai terror attacks.
He observed silence for a minute as a token of respect for the victims.
"Mumbai is a great city and can overcome tragic circumstances which let us know that love and non-violence not only is the way but will survive eternally," he said.
Earlier, he said assaults like the Mumbai attacks were the fallout of what he termed as fundamentalist fanaticism.
"The terror carnage is an example of negative conflict and appealed to the world to take to a positive manner of tackling challenges of the 21st century," he added.
