Pakistan govt’s involvement in Benazir’s killing “clearly visible”: PPP

Islamabad, Jan 14: Former Prime Minister Benazir BhuttoPakistan Peoples Party spokesperson Farhatullah Babar has said that the Pakistan government’s involvement in the assassination of PPP chairperson Benazir Bhutto was clearly visible as the latter was escaping from UN probe in the case.

His statement came after President Pervez Musharraf rejected the party’s demand for a UN probe into the assassination.

“If Al Qaeda was involved in Benazir’s murder, a UN probe was very important as it had it bases outside Pakistan,” the Daily Times quoted Babar as saying.

Responding to Musharraf’s another statement that Benazir was very “unpopular” with the military, he said that she was Asia’s most popular leader and the whole world was mourning her death.

He further said that Musharraf was “the most unpopular and hated military dictator”, and had no right to comment on Benazir’s popularity. As he is no longer with the Army so he doesn’t have any right to comment on Army’s behalf. (ANI)
