Pakistan Cricket Board planning to appoint local coach for the team

Pakistan Cricket Board planning to appoint local coach for the teamPakistan Cricket board has set out for hunting its new coach and the PCB chairman Ijaz Butt has hinted at one thing by saying that the coach 99% would be a Pakistani Player.

They hinted at Waqar Younis' name and also said that they would look at inputs from foreign coaches as and when required. They have 2-3 other names also on mind apart from Waqar Younis and will be finalizing on one by the end of this week, one thing though is almost certain that the coach would be a local one.

Though they have approached a few foreign coaches but most of them have either declined the offer or are keen for short term roles. Greg Chappell for instance has turned down the offer and Mickey Arthur is looking for a short term role if needed.

The comments from the Chairman have already rubbished all the speculation about any foreign coach to be appointed. Though neither of the previous foreign coaches has had a problem staying in Pakistan neither Geoff Lawson nor Bob Woolmer but the security issues still will be a factor with the foreign coaches.
