Pak Taliban stop 7 army trucks from entering Swat strongholdIslamabad, Apr. 25: Pakistani Taliban stopped a convoy of security forces from entering their stronghold in Swat Valley on Saturday.

A News Network International (NNI) news agency report said seven army trucks were stopped by armed Taliban at Qamabr, a small town of Mingora, the main city in the Swat Valley of North West Frontier Province.

Taliban spokesman Muslim Khan said the militants feared that the security forces might launch fresh offensive.

Khan said the deployment of troops in Swat was against a deal signed in February to introduce Islamic laws in Swat and other areas in the northwest.

There was no official reaction to the Taliban action to stop the army convoy from entering Swat.

Sources say that the local authorities are in consultations with the Taliban leaders to convince them to allow the convoy to enter, according to NNI.

Official sources said the agreement had allowed free movement of the forces. (ANI)
