Islamabad, Feb 8 : Pakistan's TTP spokesman Shaihidullah Shahid has reportedly said that had the group believed in the Constitution, the militant group wouldn't have waged a war against the government.

Citing its purpose behind holding peace talks with the government, the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) spokesperson said that the group was fighting for enforcement of Sharia and talks with the government would be held for the same objective.

While talks to put an end to the war between the group and the Pakistan government have resumed, the first round of talks ended with both sides charting a roadmap for future negotiations, with the government proposing that peace talks be pursued within the framework of the Constitution of Pakistan, the Dawn reported.

The TTP spokesperson also said that Pakistan was created in Islam's name and enforcement of Islamic Sharia was possible since the other party in the peace talks were Muslims, adding that the task shouldn't be difficult for any Muslim. (ANI)
