Pak ruling coalition to make Musharraf non-functional president
Islamabad, August 9 : Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf may soon become unwelcome in any government function.
According to The News, Pakistan People''s Party (PPP) and the Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) leaders have decided to make Musharraf the first-ever non-functional head of the state.
Verbal orders have been issued to all government departments across the country not to invite Musharraf to any ceremonies.
The four provincial assemblies will also pass resolutions against the President next week and no chief minister will welcome him in any provincial capital.
If the President of Pakistan becomes non-functional and the elected chief ministers of the four units of the federation will not welcome him, then it will be very difficult for Musharraf to claim that he represents Pakistan.
The Pakistan Constitution, however, has made the President more powerful than the Prime Minister and Parliament.
The President is the supreme commander of the armed forces and can dissolve the National Assembly with the help of the Army anytime. He can even sack the Army chief if he likes. He also has the powers to impose Governor''s Rule in any province. (ANI)
