Washington, Jan 1 : Director General of Pakistan's Inter Service Public Relations (ISPR) Major General Waheed Arshad has rubbished fears of safety about Pakistan's nuclear arsenal, and has blamed the militant group for creating the 'rumours'.

Terming the fears of country's nuclear weapons falling into the hands of Islamic extremists as "totally unfounded and nonsense", Major Arshad said: "Pakistan's nuclear arsenal is very secure ... Our security measures are one of the best in the world."

He termed the assassination of former premier Benazir Bhutto as an act of terrorism, and claimed that "the basic problem of Taliban is in Afghanistan, not in Pakistan" and that Islamabad would ultimately eliminate the local militants.

"I think the spokesman for the Ministry very clearly said that it's al Qaeda and these people, Baitullah Mehsud, who was behind this act of terrorism, which killed Benazir Bhutto," the Daily Times quoted Arshad as saying to CNN. (ANI)
