Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting, P R Dasmunsi, was admitted to the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences on Monday morning in a critical condition after he had a heart attack.

When brought to the hospital he had suffered a complete left ventricular failure of the heart and his left side was completely paralysed. At present he is being treated at the Coronary Care Unit, where he has been kept on a life support.

Dashmunshi is is said to be one of the most dynamic ministers in the Cabinet and is a key strategist and the party's face in West Bengal.

Congress president Sonia Gandhi and a number of UPA Ministers paid a visit to AIIMS in order to inquire about his health.
