Over two million iPads sold by Apple in 60 daysAccording to market reports, Apple has sold over two million iPads in the last 60 days since the video-playing tablet computer was put up for sale.

The iPad, which debuted in the US April 3, became available in countries including Japan, France and Canada on May 28.

The California-based company said in a statement that there are plans to launch the iPad in more countries including, Cupertino.

The Telegraph quoted Chief Executive Officer Steve Jobs as saying in the statement that Apple is "working hard to build enough iPads for everyone."

After underestimating demand at home, Apple was forced to delay the international release of the 499-dollar iPad.

According to Royal Bank of Canada, the company may sell as many as 8 million iPads this year. Apple has popularized a category of computer between a smart-phone and a laptop, prompting competitors such as Dell Inc. to promise similar devices.

According to Framingham, Massachusetts-based research firm IDC, the iPad will spur a six-fold increase in industry wide shipments of tablet computers to 398 million by 2014.

According to estimates, iPad shipments worldwide in that period will rise to 46 million from 7.6 million this year.

The report further noted that the iPad has a 9.7-inch touch-screen display that lets users read books and magazines, view videos, play games and surf the Internet. (With Inputs from Agencies)
