Tegucigalpa  - At least one person has been killed by the earthquake which hit Honduras early Thursday, radio reports said.

The 15-year-old boy died when his house collapsed in La Lima 265 kilometres north of the capital Tegucigalpa.

Several people were reported injured in San Pedro Sula in the north.

The quake, which measured at least 7.1 points, was followed by several aftershocks. (dpa)
