Omar Sharif signs on for Iranian film ‘Saint Petersburg’

Tehran, Nov 13: Egyptian actor Omar Sharif has signed on to star in Iranian film “Saint Petersburg”.

To be directed by Kamal Tabrizi, the pic revolves around two cheats who constantly conspire against each other.

Producer Hamid Etebarian told the Mehr News Agency over the weekend
that the actor was now waiting to receive the final version of the
screenplay.

“After making many efforts to contact the great actor of world
cinema, he agreed to appear in ‘Saint Petersburg’, ” Tehran Times
quoted Etebarian, as telling the agency.

“At present, he is waiting to receive the final version of the
screenplay, which is currently being written by Peyman Qasemkhani. The
screenplay will be translated into English to send to Sharif after it
is completed, ” he added.

Sharif has appeared in a number of in Arabic, French, and English feature films.

The 75-year old actor is most famous for his roles in “Doctor
Zhivago” and “Lawrence of Arabia”, the latter earning him a Best
Supporting Actor Oscar nomination as Sherif Ali ibn el Kharish. (ANI)
