Obama, Netanyahu discuss Cairo’s Israel embassy securityWashington, Sept 10 : US President Barack Obama reportedly talked with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu about security at the Israeli embassy in Cairo.

On Friday, protesters broke into the building housing the embassy, setting fire to vehicles and Hebrew documents. This followed days of protests over the killing of five Egyptian police officers by Israeli forces, Politico reports.

Reports suggest that after Israel called for U. S. help in securing the embassy to deal with the issue, Obama and Netanyahu spoke about the situation in Cairo.

Obama expressed great concern and reviewed the steps that the U. S. is taking at all levels to help resolve the situation without further violence. He also called on the Egyptian government to honor its international obligations to safeguard the security of the Israeli embassy.

Both leaders agreed to remain in touch until the situation is resolved. (ANI)
