NSU urges party to stay out of new government
Kathmandu, Apr 21: The Nepal Students Union (NSU) has asked its party, the Nepali Congress not to join the new government to be formed after the first meeting of the Constituent Assembly (CA).
“The NSU has concluded that since the election mandate has gone in favour of the Maoists, the NC should come out of the government and support the process of drafting a democratic Constitution by remaining outside it,” Kantipuronline quoted NSU President Pradip Poudel, as saying.
Most NSU members have claimed that people had not given a mandate to the Nepali Congress to continue in the government.
The NC is also set to hold a meeting of leaders of the party’s sister wing and youth leaders on Monday to discuss the causes behind the party’s defeat in the polls.
“We will submit a report to the party Central Working Committee after a comprehensive discussion of causes and circumstances and the overall aspects of the polls,” said Poudel. (ANI)
