North Korea threatens to retaliate against South Korea

North Korea threatens to retaliate against South KoreaSouth Korea’s planned naval drill near North Korea’s disputed sea border has been endangered of tough corporal reprisal by the latter’s military.

South Korea has accused North Korea for the death of its forty-six seamen as a result of a South Korean ship sinking and thus naval drills have been arranged for five days in the Yellow Sea by South Korea.

But North Korean authorities have denied this allegation and asked South Korea to direct their own investigators to enquire in this matter and while the military also cautioned South Korea’s civilian ships not to come close to the maritime border.

The two countries have fought three gory wars along the maritime boundary, the latest being in November of 2009. North Korea not acknowledging the border, that was drawn unilaterally by United Nations after the Korean War ended in 1953, has always triggered bad relations between the two nations.

In the meanwhile, North Korea has been asked by United States to withhold any further threats and other provocative steps against South Korea. The naval drills by South Korea have been taken as a sign of non-tolerance towards any stimulating step by North Korea.
