Sub-Committee for Tercentenary of Guru-ta-Gaddi of Guru Granth Sahib meets
New Delhi, Dec 26 : The Sub Committee for the commemoration of the Tercentenary of Guru-ta-Gaddi of Guru Granth Sahib met here today under the chairpersonship of Tourism and Culture Minister, Ambika Soni.
Soni said that the Maharashtra Government has prepared a developmental plan of Rs. 817 crores.
The event is planned for 2008 in October in Nanded (Maharashtra) and is likely to attract 25-30 lakhs pilgrims from all over the world.
The meeting discussed the development proposals of Anandpur Sahib and Talwandi Sabo.
“The Centre has agreed in principle to the proposals sent by the Punjab Government for the development of Anandpur Sahib and Talwandi Sabo and a Cabinet note to get the necessary clearances from the Union Government will be moved soon,” she said.
The development programmes of Anandpur Sahib and Talwandi Sabo will cost the exchequer about Rs. 183 crores.
The Minister also said the National Highway from Talwandi Sabo to Nanded is proposed to be named after Guru Gobind Singhji and this project will be developed by the Centre.
Punjab Chief Minister Prakash Singh Badal who attended the meeting thanked the Minister and the Centre for readily agreeing to the development projects of Anandpur Sahib and Talwandi Sabo. (ANI)
