TRS-CPM Alliance
With the Lok Sabha elections looming, political parties, in an attempt to have a substantial impact on its voters are strengthening themselves in whatever form they can. Alliance with the alike thinkers seems to be the in thing. Telengana Rasthra Samiti (TRS) and the CPM are likely to join as the TRS leader K. Chandrasekhar Rao and the left party leader Sitaram Yechury had a meeting together.
With both the parties being opposed to Congress and the BJP, their ideology will have a strong footing. After the leaders of the two parties met, Mr Yechury said that both the CPM and TRS have been working together for quite a time now. He added that, “We discussed seat sharing arrangements to avoid any clash... There is still a lot of time (for the elections)... A lot of water is flowing under rhe bridges... there is no hurry. But non-BJP, non-Congress alliance should be strengthened.”
Mr Yechury asserted that they were against the formation of states on basis of linguistic similarity like Chhattisgarh, Uttaranchal and Jharkhand and will remain so. The TRS chief seemed to be happy with the support they are getting from CPM. On this Mr Rao commented that, “We have decided to work together for the elections in Andhra Pradesh. Whoever we ally with in future will be decided later. But the two Left parties and TRS will be together.”
