Altaf Hussain warns Talibanisation spreading in Karachi

Karachi, Sept 30 : MQM (Muttahida Qaumi Movement) chief Altaf Hussain has said that the Taliban was spreading its tentacles in two major areas of Karachi - Sultanabad and Pukhtoonabad.

He said that all possible efforts should be made to protect Karachi from Talibanisation. He said it could be done by rejecting the Taliban’s Shariat

“We will not allow the imposition of the Taliban’s Shariat in Karachi and will take all possible action to defend our city in accordance with Islamic Shariat,” the Daily Times quoted Hussain as saying while addressing an Iftar party at his party office in London last evening.

“The Baldia town encounter has revealed the deep roots of the terrorists in the city. These were the same terrorists who were involved in the Nishtar Park tragedy and the killing of Allama Hasan Turabi,” said Hussain.

According to another press release, Hussain expressed his grief over the situation in FATA, Waziristan, Bajaur and other tribal areas and has appealed to militants of the areas to observe a ceasefire in respect of Eidul Fitr. (ANI)
