Blast in Iraqi market kills one, injures seven

Iraq tightens security in Karbala ahead of pilgrimage Baghdad- A blast in a market in Kirkuk, northern Iraq on Thursday killed a civilian and injured seven, police officials said.

The detonation hit a popular market in the Domeez area in southern Kirkuk and caused damage to several shops in the area, a police official told the Voices of Iraq (VOI) news agency.

Kirkuk is a multi-ethnic city with a population of Kurds, Arabs, and Turkmen. It is located some 250 kilometres north of the Iraqi capital Baghdad. (dpa)
