Current floral patterns must be properly combined
Munich - Floral patterns on summer dresses and blouses are currently trendy, and size is playing a huge role.
"Extra large is the motto for everything floral. The trend isn't meant to include fleur-de lis or floral prints that look like strewn flowers," said style consultant Georg Stiels of Munich. It's also important that it's not overdone because the flowers are only a stylistic device. They enhance the garment, but should not be too dominant.
Make-up combined with floral prints should be discreet. Otherwise the look quickly turns into a "paint pot." Women who like elegance or do not want to overdo it can achieve a good look by wearing a top or blouse with bright flowers combined with a suit or trouser suit.
A skirt in a floral print combined with a light twin set, a white blouse or a blazer goes well in any office. And floral patterns go perfectly with all jeans, said Stiels.
Only part of the outfit should have the large floral patterns, however. Women with a bold sense of style can combine florals and stripes. They harmonize the colours, let the patterns blend into one another and become "truly eye-catching."
Women who wear florals should be careful when it comes to selecting accessories. Items that work well are plain leather purses and filagree jewellery. Anything else can quickly make her look overloaded.
If her clothes are without floral patterns, a woman can wear a large floral brooch.
Bags with large floral prints also are in, and light-weight scarves and large silk scarves are also setting the trend. (dpa)
