Berlin  - Some 9 million web users in Germany have created profiles on online networks like Xing, StudiVZ or Facebook. That's a 20 per cent jump over a year ago, reports the industry association BITKOM.

The figures are based on data collected by the opinion research institute Forsa.

Viewed in terms of German citizens aged 14 and up, 12 per cent have a profile in at least one of the communities. Among internet users in general the figure is roughly 17 per cent. (dpa)
