US forces arrest police chief to the north of Baghdad
Baghdad - US forces arrested Saturday a police chief in Salahaddin province, some 170 kilometers north of Baghdad, security sources said.
Mahmoud Edwan was taken from his office to an unknown location, sources told Deutsche Presse-Agentur dpa.
Separately, sources said that the US military released a Tikrit press syndicate head, four days after his arrest.
On Wednesday, the US military arrested Hassan Magun with no stated reason.
Magun told dpa that he was not exposed to harm from the US forces, stressing that they questioned him during his detention. (dpa)
