Firefox Web Browser was released in November 2004. Since then its popularity has been growing as it offered secured browing and many easy to use extensions. It was the first web browser which gave a tough competition to Microsoft’s Internet Explorer.
As per current stats, Mozilla is used by175 million people in more than 230 countries. It is available in 45 languages. The popularity of the browser can be estimated by the number its fans on popular social networking site Facebook. Its own fan page has 91,205 fans signed up and counting.
The competition always improves efficiency. To compete with Mozilla , IE has been updated with new features. On Wednesday, the company unveiled the new features for IE's next version, IE 8, aimed at making the browser easier for online users. IE 8 beta 2 is scheduled to be available in August.

It will release the next version of its Firefox browser on Tuesday. Mozilla has asked its supporters to download this new version of Firefox on the day of its release so that it can set the world record- the largest number of software downloads in 24 hours.
To set this record Mozilla has declared 17 June as download day. It is hosting a Download Day event, the Camp Firefox BBQ, at its office in Mountain View, California, on Tuesday. Mozilla fans around world are hosting download parties to encourage their friends to download.
The updated version of Firfox has many new features. Release Candidate 3 of Firefox is currently available online for free download. According to a recent report by the Associated Press, one of the key improvements of the browser involves bookmarking.
The new version lets Web surfers add keywords, or tags, to sort bookmarks by topic. A new ‘Places’ feature lets users quickly access sites they recently bookmarked or tagged and pages they visit frequently but haven’t bookmarked. This could be an interesting feature for users browsing web more often and download lot of stuff online.
Firefox 3.0 has been updated to resume downloading itself in case the power goes off or internet connected is interrupted. This new feature of Firefox is coupled with enhanced password manager which will streamline the log in process.
For increased security, Firefox may start blocking websites engaged in phishing. The new version will also offer protection from websites known to distribute viruses and other malicious software.
