Tata Comm Partners Sonus For Global Voice Solutions

The communication service provider, Tata Communications has partnered Tata Communications with US-based Sonus in order to swell its global reach and deliver IP-leveraged communications solutions to businesses as well as consumers throughout the world.

John Hayduk, Tata Communications Chief Technology Officer, stated, “The company has selected Sonus complete fixed trunking solution to provide its IP-voice services in nine cities across three continents.”

A company’s representative said that presently Tata Communications’ has a customer base of over 1,500 global carriers, 600 mobile operators, 10,000 enterprises, more than 500,000 broadband and internet subscribers and approximately 300 Wi-Fi public hotspots all of  which demand the highest level of quality and reliability.

“When undertaking international deployments of this scale, we need a partner who really understands our business goals. We have selected Sonus' complete fixed line trunking solution to provide its IP-voice services in nine cities across three continents, delivering a robust, highly scalable, reliable platform for IP-voice and multimedia services. Sonus has helped Tata Communications build an extensive migration plan,” Mr. Hayduk added.

Tata Comm stated that the affiliation with Sonus will ease the migration from its legacy network onto the new IP-based network initial deployment cities such as Newark, New Jersey, Montreal, Quebec, Toronto, Ontario, Los Angeles, California, London, Madrid, Frankfurt and Singapore.

Moreover, Tata Communications will set up Sonus' Network Border Switch to correlate its disparate voice networks and deliver flawless IP services across geographies.

Founded in 1997 and headquartered in Westford, Massachusetts, Sonus Networks Inc. is a leader in IP communications infrastructure for wireline and wireless service providers.

Tata Communications’ shares, on Monday (May 12) declined 0.4%, to settle at Rs 486.60 on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).
