Sabeel Ahmed arrives in Bangalore
Bangalore, May 8 : India-born doctor Sabeel Ahmed in the Glasgow Airport bombing case, arrived here early this morning after serving 18 months in a UK jail.
Sabeel was deported by a British Airways flight and escorted by two Metropolitan Police officers from London.
He had earlier pleaded guilty to not inform the police regarding the attack carried out by his brother Kafeel.
A London court was told last month that Sabeel had received an e-mail from Kafeel and details of his will before the attack.
Sabeel's mother, Zakia Ahmed said she was happy to see her son back home and did not want anyone to disturb him. She said she was resting for the moment and would interact with the media later.
Sabeel hails from a family of medical practitioners.
He worked at the Halton Hospital in Runcom.
Kafeel, his brother, was an engineer who rammed a jeep into the Glasgow Airport terminal building on June 30 last year and set it ablaze. Kafeel later died of 90 percent burns at a hospital.
Last month, London's Old Bailey court had observed that there was no sign of Sabeel being an extremist or party to extremist views and the e-mail revealed he had no prior knowledge of Kafeel's terrorist activities. (ANI)
