Yearbook Quote goes Viral on Social Media

A California high school student has given a senior yearbook quote that is simple and hilarious. Rafika Alami, 17, a senior at Summit High School in Fontana, California, decided to have some fun in her senior quote. The quote has something to do with the ‘hijab’ she has been wearing since sixth grade.

Her quote has been re-tweeted nearly 20,000 times. Alami, who goes by the nickname Fefe, said she never expected it to become so popular in social media. The quote having gone viral on social media has really excited her and she is very happy.

She said that she couldn’t have asked for anything more to end her senior year the way it actually has. Her intention behind writing it was to be funny. She didn’t want to be offensive to anyone through her quote, she said.

Alami published underneath her senior photo, “The only reason I wear this is to give you females a chance”.

Some of the responses for her quote on social media reeked of racism, but majority is positive. Alami said, “The funniest and probably the smoothest reaction I got was similar from two people. They quoted my tweet and said 'Will you give me a chance?' It was cute”.

It is to be seen if other seniors across the country could top the creative quote. Alami said she can’t say surely if they can manage the task, but she has challenged everyone to give it a try.
