Microsoft outlines Windows 10 versions
Microsoft announced the Windows 10 versions Tuesday, causing excitement among people who are eagerly looking forward to it. The new operating system will be launched this summer. However, the company did not reveal many details regarding the Windows 10. It didn't say anything regarding its money making targets associated with the new operating system.
According to reports, Windows 10 will be sold in two versions for consumers, just like the company's earlier versions such as Windows 7, 8. The two versions will be Windows 10 Pro, and Windows 10 Home. The Windows Phone brand will not be there as the company indicated earlier. It is planned to be renamed as Windows 10 Mobile, and will work on phones and small tablets.
As per reports, there will be different versions available for businesses and enterprises: Windows 10 Enterprise i. e. Windows 10 Mobile Enterprise and Windows 10 Education. Windows 10 will also be a free upgrade, especially when it comes to consumers.
According to Microsoft's Tony Prophet, the company's corporate vice president of Windows and search, "As we announced earlier this year, for the first time ever, we are offering the full versions of Windows 10 Home, Windows 10 Mobile and Windows 10 Pro as a free and easy upgrade for qualifying Windows 7, Windows 8.1 and Windows Phone 8.1 devices". He added that after upgrading windows, one will have Windows 10 for free on that device.
Earlier, Microsoft said that Windows 10 beta testers, which are called Insiders, will be receiving a free upgrade to the 'RTM' version of the software; this version will be shipped to stores and to hardware makers. It has not been revealed by Microsoft that which versions of Windows 7 will upgrade to Windows 10.
