Mark Pincus to return to Zynga
Chief executive of Zynga, Don Mattrick, will be replaced by the company's founder and chairman Mark Pincus. Zynga provides social game services and was founded in July 2007. Mattrick has stepped down and this is not a surprise as Mattrick didn't succeed in turning around the situation of the company.
Zynga is not doing well in its financial performance. The company is making efforts in order to find a grip against Supercell (Clash of Clans), King (Candy Crush Saga) and Machine Zone (Game of War) in a mobile game market, which could reach $30 billion this year.
Zynga could be largely affected since nearly every person in the executive capacity was replaced by Mattrick. The company said that the change does not mean firing of Mattrick. According to Pincus, a mutual agreement between him and Mattrick led to this decision.
According to Pincus, "When Don took over the reins in July 2013; the company was at the beginning of a very tough transition from being a leader in social and casual gaming on the Web to being a contender in mobile". He added that they once again learnt the rules of engagement and began building a leadership position again.
Last year, when Mattrick took over, the company's revenue was $690 million, down almost half from $1.28 billion in 2012.
