Andy Murray seeded eight for 2014 US open at Flushing Meadows
London, Aug 20 : Tennis ace Andy Murray is seeded eighth for the 2014 US Open, which is set to commence at Flushing Meadows on Monday.
According to the BBC, the 27-year-old, who won the tournament in 2012, has not won an ATP ranking event since Wimbledon in 2013.
Britons Daniel Cox and Naomi Broady, who lost their first-round qualifiers in straight sets, will not be participating in the main draw.
Cox, 23, suffered a 6-3 6-3 defeat by Serbia's Filip Krajinovic and was on court for just 69 minutes, while 24 year old Broady, who is part of the qualifying draw for a third consecutive year, lost 7-5 (8-6) 7-6 (7-2) to American Tornado Alicia Black in two hours and 16 minutes.
Meanwhile, Britons James Ward, Daniel Evans and Daniel Smethurst will play their first-round qualifiers in New York on Wednesday.
